Walking in My Shoes project

This observational drawing unit began with students warming up with blind and semi-blind contour line drawing.  Students were introduced to shading in a ten-step value scale on white and toned grey paper using charcoal pencils.  Each students selected a favorite pair of shoes that represented a facet of their personality they wanted to highlight.  The experimented with a variety of compositions with the help of a viewfinder and finally selected a composition to develop into a final observational drawing.

My Path to Peace project

This project idea was born from the numerous requests by students who wanted learn to draw eyes realistically.  The meaning behind this project was for students to depict their personalised idea of peace while learning how to draw a realistic eye.  Students worked in pairs to photograph each other’s eyes and used these photos as reference in their drawings.
